ds.rst.estimate_error_structure() or Raster.estimate_error_structure()#

RasterBase.estimate_error_structure(other, *, other_precision='same', predictors=None, components=None, mask=None, mp_config=None, **estimate_kwargs)[source]#

Estimate this raster’s error structure from its difference with another dataset.

The two inputs are aligned by cosample(). With other_precision="same", their errors must be independent and have the same magnitude and correlation; the difference is divided by the square root of two. Use "negligible" when the other dataset’s error can be ignored.

Parameters:
  • other (RasterBase | DataArray | PointCloudBase | GeoDataFrame | ArrayLike) – Raster, point cloud, or array of comparable measurements.

  • other_precision (Literal['same', 'negligible']) – Whether the other input has the same precision or negligible error.

  • predictors (Mapping[str, Any] | None) – Named variables controlling a magnitude that varies with location.

  • components (Mapping[str, Mapping[str, Any]] | None) – Named magnitude and correlation models to fit.

  • mask (RasterBase | DataArray | geoutils.vector.base.VectorBase | GeoDataFrame | ArrayLike | None) – Locations used to estimate the error structure.

  • mp_config (MultiprocConfig | None) – Worker and tile settings for multiprocessing.

  • estimate_kwargs (Any) – Additional options accepted by ErrorStructure.estimate().

Return type:

ErrorStructure

Returns:

Fitted error structure for this raster.
